Levan Davitashvili, the Georgian Economy Minister and Oljas Bektenov, the Kazakh Prime Minister, highlighted partnership relations between the two countries.

The meeting also emphasized decisions of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation between the two countries and the importance of their implementation.

The Ministry noted a plenary session of the Commission, co-chaired by Davitashvili,  was set to be held on Friday in the Kazakh capital of Astana.  

The sides also discussed a wide range of trade and economic relations, as well as regional transport and infrastructural topics.

The importance of Trans-Caspian transport and logistics projects, including “further development” of the Middle Corridor route connecting Central Asia and China to Europe was stressed between the officials.

They also focused on ties in trade, transport and logistics, energy, information technology, connectivity, civil aviation, tourism and investments.

The sides noted the trade turnover between the two countries in recent years had been characterized by “increasing dynamics”. In 2023, this indicator increased by 168 percent compared to the previous year.

They also positively evaluated cooperation in tourism, adding Kazakhstan was in the top ten origin countries for international travelers arriving in Georgia.

Levan Davitashvili extended his gratitude to the head of the Kazakhstan Government for its support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia.
