From January to October 2024, Georgia's trade turnover with the United States experienced a 5% decline compared to the same period in 2023. According to data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia, the trade turnover during the first ten months of this year amounted to 1.73 billion USD, in contrast to 1.82 billion USD during the same period last year.
During this period, imports significantly outpaced local exports. However, while imports showed a decrease compared to the previous year, Georgian exports to the United States witnessed an increase.
Specifically, imports from the United States declined by 8.5%. In 2023, the value of imports from the United States was 1.74 billion USD, whereas this year, it totaled 1.59 billion USD. The largest portion of these imports consisted of light vehicles.
The five main products imported from the United States in 2024 were as follows:
- Light vehicles – 1.455 billion USD
- Nuts and other types of nuts – 19.8 million USD
- Frozen meat and food by-products of poultry – 7.88 million USD
- Food products – 5.45 million USD
- Motorcycles and bicycles – 5.04 million USD
In contrast, the Georgian exports to the United States increased by 77% during the reporting period. Export revenues from Georgia exceeded 69.59 million USD in 2023, reaching over 123.5 million USD in the same period in 2024.
It is also noteworthy that this year, the largest share of Georgian exports to the United States was comprised of ferroalloys.
The five primary Georgian export products to the United States in 2024 were:
- Ferroalloys – 90.12 million USD
- Natural grape wines – 6.37 million USD
- Pipes – 5.92 million USD
- Fruit and vegetable juices – 3.93 million USD
- Aircraft parts – 3.78 million USD
