Levan Makhashvili, Chair of the European Integration Committee, stated that the opposition is unlikely to unite due to internal differences and conflicting viewpoints. He noted that while the opposition may attempt to rally around former President Salome Zourabichvili, such efforts are expected to be ineffective.
Makhashvili explained that despite some shared approaches and a degree of radicalization, the opposition's individual ambitions will hinder their ability to unite for the country's benefit. Their primary goal, he argued, is to gain power rather than contribute to national welfare. He expressed limited expectations for their unity, acknowledging that while some of their ideas were predictable, their reliance on the former president is unlikely to succeed.
In contrast, Giorgi Vashadze, a leader of the Unity-National Movement coalition, stressed the importance of substantial opposition unity and called for former President Zourabichvili to lead efforts in forming a unified platform.
