In December, oil transportation through pipelines in the Georgian Corridor decreased.
According to the data of the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation, 2.6 million tons of oil were transported through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline in December, which is the lowest figure since September.
After Russia's invasion of Ukraine, oil transportation through the Baku-Supsa Pipeline, which was suspended due to the increased risk, was not resumed. BP suspended the transportation of oil through the Baku-Supsa Pipeline from March 15 to the end of April, and then this decision was extended. Concerns regarding the safety of oil tankers in the Black Sea were cited as the reason.
In 2022, a total of 30.6 million tons of oil was transported through Georgia, which is equal to the 2021 figure.
The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, who visited Georgia last year, said that oil exports would increase through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline, and there is a desire to use the Baku-Supsa terminal even more.
During the last 10 years, approximately 4 million tons of oil were transported through the Baku-Supsa pipeline.
