Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže has announced the addition of 55 Georgian citizens to Latvia’s list of undesirable persons, effectively barring them from entering the country indefinitely.
In a statement posted on social media platform X, Braže wrote:
“I have made a decision to include another 55 Georgian citizens in the list of undesirable persons for the Republic of Latvia, in accordance with the second part of Article 61 of the Immigration Law.”
The action, taken under Section 61, Part 2 of Latvia’s Immigration Law, grants authorities the right to ban individuals from entering the country without disclosing detailed reasons publicly. The post did not specify the identities of those affected or the grounds for their inclusion on the list.
The move comes amid heightened scrutiny of regional political and security concerns, although the Latvian government has yet to offer further clarification.
