In 2023, Georgia’s gross domestic product (GDP) is projected to total 80,882.8 million GEL. The largest contributions to this figure come from the following regions: Tbilisi (52.7 percent), Adjara Autonomous Republic (9.5 percent), Imereti (7.8 percent), Kvemo Kartli (7.5 percent), and Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti (5.4 percent).
According to the data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat), the largest sectoral contribution to GDP in Tbilisi comes from wholesale and retail trade, which includes automobile and motorcycle repair (24.6 percent), real estate-related activities (11.6 percent), and construction (9.1 percent). In Adjara Autonomous Republic, the leading economic sectors are construction (14.0 percent), real estate-related activities (13.8 percent), and wholesale and retail trade, including automobile and motorcycle repair (10.5 percent). In Imereti, which ranks third in terms of value-added GDP, significant contributions come from agriculture, forestry, and fish farming (11.9 percent), the processing industry (11.2 percent), and real estate-related activities (10.8 percent). Meanwhile, in Kvemo Kartli, the GDP is primarily driven by manufacturing (18.9 percent), agriculture, forestry, and fish farming (15.5 percent), and state administration and defense (8.9 percent).
