The Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze asserted that the “deep state” and the “informal influences” of the “Global War Party” were the primary obstructing factors in the relationship between Georgia and the United States.
In an interview with Imedi TV, Kobakhidze suggested that the disturbances in global peace, including the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, which he described as a tragedy for the "friendly country" being devastated, were the result of policies attributed to the deep state.
He expressed optimism that a reset in Georgia-US relations was "absolutely realistic," contingent upon the defeat of these alleged forces. Kobakhidze noted that many individuals viewed the new Trump administration with hope, particularly in regard to its ambitious statements about defeating the deep state.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister reiterated his government's willingness to pursue a “qualitative reset” of the partnership with the United States, emphasizing the need for a renewed strategic partnership founded on a "clean slate" and a clearly defined roadmap. He stressed that both Georgia and the US should be able to identify tangible results from their strategic partnership, noting that while such a partnership had existed on paper for years, it had not produced meaningful outcomes. Kobakhidze emphasized that any new agreement should be tied to specific, measurable results for both nations.
