The Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó announced that Hungary will not suspend visa-free travel for Georgian diplomats.
“Hungary will maintain the existing agreement with Georgia regarding visa-free travel for holders of service and diplomatic passports. We believe that the future of a country should be determined by its people, not in Brussels. Georgians have made their decision, regardless of whether Brussels approves it or not,” stated Szijjártó.
This statement came in response to the European Union's recent decision to suspend visa-free travel for holders of Georgian diplomatic and service/official passports.
The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, clarified that the suspension of visa liberalization for Georgian diplomats would be implemented by individual member states through their internal regulations, emphasizing that this is the procedure followed within the EU.
