“Despite the increased flow of visitors to Georgia as of the current month, compared to similar periods of other years, the workload of the hotel sector is less,” - Shalva Alaverdashvili, the founder of the Hotels’ Federation, said.
"I can't really say that the hotels have hosted guests in the background of the increased flows. Actually, most of the people entered Georgia for transit purposes and leave the hotels in 1-2 days. It is not true that something has radically changed. If we do not consider the pandemic period, compared to the previous months of September, the occupancy of hotels in Tbilisi is less this year. It will be difficult to me to say the exact ratio, because the month is not over yet.
It is more a political part, but I want to say unequivocally that 50% of the Russian citizens who entered are ethnic Georgians. Among them are my acquaintances who simply have a Russian passport and do not want to go to war," - Alaverdashvili said.
