The Minister of Finance of Georgia, Lasha Khutsishvili, met with the Head of the Tax Inspectors Without Borders (TIWB) secretariat of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Rusudan Kemularia, and OECD Senior Tax Adviser, Andrew Auerbach.
The Deputy Minister of Finance Mamuka Baratashvili and the Head of Tax and Customs Policy Department Marine Khurtsidze also participated in the meeting.
"The purpose of the delegation's visit is to open a pilot program for the introduction of tax incentives and the two-pillar plan of digital economy taxation.
As part of the program, the OECD will provide assistance in the implementation of the new two-pillar plan of digital economy taxation in Georgia. During the three-day visit, working meetings are planned with the employees of the Ministry of Finance and the Revenue Service, as well as with the members of the Parliament of Georgia and the National Bank officials.
It is worth noting that on June 14, 2016, Georgia was one of the first countries to join the BEPS Inclusive Framework and undertake to implement the minimum standards provided for in this project, to fight against tax evasion, to upgrade the current rules of international taxation and create a more transparent tax environment.
In addition, Georgia is actively involved in the ongoing projects to overcome tax challenges arising from the development of the digital economy, within the framework of which, on October 8, 2021, Georgia, together with 138 jurisdictions, supported the official statement of the OECD regarding the two-pillar plan to reform international taxation rules,"- the Ministry of Finance of Georgia reported.
