Georgian Acting Economy Minister speaks about positive economic trends at Parliament

Levan Davitashvili, the Acting Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, nominated by the Georgian Dream party for the same position, addressed the expanded sitting of parliamentary committees of the 11th Convocation Parliament.
The Minister highlighted positive economic trends, economic growth, and inflation rates.
Davitashvili emphasized that the government's policies aimed at strengthening the macroeconomic framework are key to sustaining strong economic growth. He projected that by 2028, Georgia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will surpass 130 billion GEL, and GDP per capita will exceed 35,000 GEL (approximately 13,000 USD).
Key points included:
- Georgia will experience the highest economic growth in the wider region and Europe in 2023 and the medium term.
- Compared to 2019, goods exports increased by 60% and trade turnover grew by 63% in 2023.
- In 2024, tourism revenues are expected to reach USD 4.4 billion, with international visitors projected to number 11 million by 2028.
- Government-funded start-ups have generated over 500 million GEL in financial benefits and created nearly 4,000 high-tech jobs.
- Under the "Produce in Georgia" program, 700 new enterprises were established, 800 enterprises expanded, and almost 10,000 projects were financed with micro-grants.
