According to the data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT), in November 2024, the Consumer Price Index rose by 0.7% from the previous month, with annual inflation at 1.3%. Annual core inflation increased by 1.6%, while core inflation excluding tobacco also rose by 1.6%.
The monthly inflation was mainly driven by:
Food and non-alcoholic beverages: Prices rose 2.2%, contributing 0.74 percentage points to the overall inflation. Significant price hikes occurred in vegetables (17.9%), sugar, jam, and confectionery (3.4%), oils and fats (3.3%), fish (2.6%), and milk, cheese, and eggs (1.0%). Conversely, prices for fruit and grapes (-3.6%), coffee, tea, and cocoa (-1.2%), and meat (-0.4%) fell.
Health: Prices increased by 0.9%, adding 0.09 percentage points to the index, driven by higher costs for medical products (1.4%) and outpatient services (0.3%).
Transport: Prices fell by 1.5%, contributing -0.17 percentage points to the index, with decreases in transport services (-2.5%) and personal transport equipment operation (-1.5%).
Alcoholic beverages and tobacco: Prices rose 5.1%, contributing 0.34 percentage points to annual inflation, with increases in alcoholic beverages (7.5%) and tobacco (2.1%).
Communication: Prices dropped by 12.9%, reducing the index by -0.48 percentage points.
Housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels: Prices decreased by 3.7%, contributing -0.32 percentage points to the overall index, with lower costs for electricity, gas, and fuels (-5.2%) and housing rentals (-2.7%), though maintenance and repair of dwellings rose by 5.8%.
