The Georgian Orthodox Church celebrates the Day of St. Nicholas today. In connection with the holiday, services and prayers are being held in the temples.
The Georgian Orthodox Church celebrates the Day of St. Nicholas or St. Nicholas twice a year: December 19 is the day of his commemoration and May 22 is the holiday of transferring the relics of Nicholas the Wonderworker, Archbishop of Myra of Lycia, to the Italian city of Bari.
St. Nicholas was glorified as a great saint of God. The Wonderworker is revered as a quick helper in the most seemingly hopeless and insoluble problems, both spiritual and mundane. But most of all, the saint is honored by sailors - the icons of St. Nicholas are on many ships and vessels.
