On September 2, in the archaeological park of Pompeii, a large-scale event called About the life and wine of ancient Pompeii was held, within the framework of which a scientific conference and an exhibition and tasting of Georgian and Italian wines were held.
As the Italian Embassy reported, in order to plant an experimental vineyard of Georgian grape varieties in the archaeological park of Pompeii, as part of the event, appropriate seedlings were handed over to the park administration.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Italy, Konstantine Surguladze, gave a speech at the opening of the event. The Ambassador spoke about the historically close ties between Georgia and Italy and the importance of sharing knowledge and experience in the field of art and culture.
General Director of the National Museum of Georgia, Davit Lortkipanidze, presented a report at the conference. The representative of the Georgian National Wine Agency of Georgia, Davit Maghradze, also addressed the guests.
The event was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps, Italian state institutions, scientific and business circles, media, industry experts and sommeliers.
