Irakli Nadareishvili, Georgia’s Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, met with Han Jun, Deputy Director of China’s Civil Aviation Administration (CAAC), to explore deeper cooperation in civil aviation.
“We aim to expand Georgian and Chinese airline operations. Visa-free travel has significantly boosted passenger traffic,” said Nadareishvili.
He noted that air passenger numbers between the two countries rose by 45% in 2024, reaching 57,184 travelers, compared to the previous year.
Talks focused on adding new routes and increasing flight frequency to strengthen trade, tourism, and economic ties. Currently, China Southern Airlines and Air China serve routes to Georgia, and air cargo demand is rising.
Also present at the meeting were Givi Davitashvili, Director of Georgia’s Civil Aviation Agency, and Zhou Qian, Chinese Ambassador to Georgia.
