Irakli Karkashadze, Director of the United Airports of Georgia, held a meeting with the management of British Airways, the United Kingdom’s flag carrier, to discuss the technical aspects of the airline's forthcoming operations in Georgia, set to commence on March 30.
The meeting also addressed organizational matters related to the inaugural flight. This discussion took place within the framework of Connect 2025, an annual international aviation forum held from Monday to Wednesday in Girona, Spain.
British Airways, serving over 190 destinations across 65 countries, will begin four weekly direct flights between London and Tbilisi, Georgia, from Heathrow Airport.
Irakli Karkashadze noted the completion of “intensive negotiations” last year to secure flights from the “busiest airport in Europe,” acknowledging the challenge of this achievement.
He expressed pride in reintroducing British Airways to Georgia, stating, "Connecting London-Tbilisi with a direct flight is of great importance for bilateral relations." Karkashadze also mentioned that the partnership with American Airlines would offer British Airways passengers easy transit to various U.S. cities.
