“One of the priorities of the Georgian government is the development of the digital economy and information society. Digital technologies provide an opportunity to increase productivity, reduce costs and ensure better quality services. Modern technologies such as 5G, artificial intelligence, blockchain, cloud technologies and others make a significant contribution to the global economy. No sector of the economy remains behind advanced technologies. Thus, the governments, business and society will have to quickly adapt to the new principles of the economy and its policy challenges,” – the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Genadi Arveladze said, who is participating in the ministerial organized by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
The Ministerial is being held in Paris, the capital of France, and Ministers and Deputy Ministers of OECD member and non-member countries, as well as representatives of international and financial institutions are participating in it.
The Deputy Minister took part in one of the ministerial sessions, which will touch on the possibilities of digitization. According to him, the Georgian government has implemented successful reforms in order to develop a knowledge-based and innovation-oriented economy – has approved the National Broadband Development Strategy of Georgia and its implementation action plan (NBDS), has launched the implementation of the Log-In Georgia project, the main components of which are the increase in the availability of broadband Internet access and the promotion of the use of digital services.
As Genadi Arveladze stated, Georgia, taking into account its geographical location and liberal business environment, had a great potential to become a digital regional hub that would contribute to the digital transformation of the region and the development of ICT capabilities.
