
On October 24-25, 2022, the Prague Process Ministerial Conference on migration will took place in Prague under the auspices of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU. Ministers of the participating countries responsible for migration approved a political declaration and an action plan that will shape the framework for cooperation for 2023-2027.
The Georgian delegation led by the First Deputy Minister of Justice Tamar Tkeshelashvili took part in the ministerial conference and spoke at the event about the reforms implemented by Georgia in the field of migration and the issues envisaged by the ministerial declaration. She also emphasized the importance of cooperation between the countries in the area of migration management, which will be further strengthened after the adoption of the declaration.
The Georgian delegation also included the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandre Darakhvelidze and representatives of the Ministry of Justice and Internal Affairs of Georgia.
The main areas of cooperation between the countries concerned are: prevention and combating irregular migration, readmission, voluntary return and reintegration, or legal migration with emphasis on labour migration. In addition to the traditional discussions and a series of bilateral meetings, the forthcoming meeting in Prague will offer the opportunity for a joint response to the impact of the Russian aggression in Ukraine or the situation in Afghanistan.
