
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (UNFAO) is starting to implement a new project in Georgia, the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia reports.
The goal of the project is to promote the development of climate change-resistant and low-emission agriculture.
"The new two-year project was signed by the Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia Otar Shamugia and the representative of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (UNFAO) in Georgia, Raimund Yele.
The project is funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF). The budget of the project is 500,000 US dollars.
At the meeting, Otar Shamugia thanked the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations for close partnership cooperation and spoke at length about the progress in fulfilling the obligations under the Association Agreement with the European Union and the importance of FAO's support in this process.
The Minister discussed the issue of ensuring the effectiveness assessment research of the projects implemented by the Ministry. Otar Shamugia also emphasized the importance of FAO's support in the fight against tortoise beetles.
According to the representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (UNFAO Raimund Yele, Georgia is an important partner for the FAO; The organization will continue to support the development of the industry in the country.
The meeting was attended by the deputy representative of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (UNFAO) Mamuka Meskhi and the representatives of the relevant service of the Ministry.
