Tbilisi City Court Judge Tamar Mchedlishvili has acquitted Tedo Abramov of charges related to the purchase and possession of a significant amount of drugs, ordering his immediate release from the courtroom.
In her ruling, the judge emphasized the importance of law enforcement officers properly documenting the search process and ensuring an impartial witness was present to maintain the integrity of the personal search. She also reminded the court that any reasonable doubt must be resolved in favor of the accused.
Following his release, Abramov expressed his dissatisfaction with the system, stating, “Everything in this country urgently needs to change.” He added, “There are far too many innocent people behind bars. We must address this injustice. Friends, we will free you and save everyone. I stand with you and I am happy.”
Abramov had been arrested on December 7, 2024, and faced charges under Article 260, Section 6, Subsection “a” of the Georgian Criminal Code, which carries penalties ranging from 8 to 20 years in prison, or even life imprisonment.
