
“Rector of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University Jaba Samushia met with Jennifer Holmes, Dean of the School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences at the University of Texas at Dallas (USA) and Vice Provost for Global Engagement Dean of Graduate Education Professor of Molecular Biology, Juan González,” - the press office of the university informed.
The TSU and the University of Texas at Dallas (USA) won a joint grant from the US State Department.
"The grant of the State Department provides for the support of doctoral students and young scientists in natural sciences, economics and business, and the promotion of their research and academic skills development.
At the meeting, the rector of TSU emphasized that cooperation with American universities is a strategic priority of the TSU. The Tbilisi State University will try its best to turn the ties with American universities into a long-term relationship within the framework of the US State Department grant.
The American partners also met with the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Nunu Mickevichi, representatives and students of the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences of TSU. After the meetings, they announced that they plan intensive cooperation with the TSU.
In early March, the selection interviews of the first cohort were held. American and TSU experts interviewed 11 applicants. The first cohort of selected applicants will visit the University of Texas in June-July 2023.
