To boost awareness and export growth of Georgian wine in the United Kingdom, a professional tasting event titled “The Georgian Palate” was held in London, supported by Georgia’s National Wine Agency and organized by Swirl Wine Group, the agency’s UK-based marketing partner.
Led by Sarah Abbott, Master of Wine and founder of Swirl Wine Group, the event highlighted a diverse selection of Georgian wines across various styles and appellations. Attendees included wine professionals, media representatives, and sales sector experts, providing a key platform to engage the UK wine industry with Georgia’s unique winemaking heritage.
As one of the world’s leading wine importers and consumers, the UK has been a strategic export market for Georgian wine since 2014. That partnership is yielding tangible results: in 2024, Georgia exported nearly 426,000 liters of wine to the UK—marking a 72% increase over 2023.
This momentum is set to continue. Backed by the National Wine Agency, Swirl Wine Group will lead the 2025 Georgian wine marketing campaign across the UK. The initiative will include tasting seminars in major cities, participation in international wine exhibitions, and a robust media and advertising campaign aimed at both trade and consumers.
The event and upcoming activities are part of a broader effort to position Georgian wine more prominently on the global stage and to further establish its presence in competitive, high-potential markets like the United Kingdom.
