Nino Tandilashvili, Georgia's Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, announced on Thursday that the government plans to invest GEL 3 billion ($1.10 billion) to support farmers by 2028, with an additional $300 million for modern irrigation systems. Speaking at the Agriculture Innovation Mission for Climate at COP29 in Baku, she emphasized the importance of enhancing climate resilience in the agricultural sector.
The 2021-2027 agricultural strategy focuses on climate-smart practices and efficient water resource management.
Tandilashvili stressed that innovation in agriculture will help mitigate climate change impacts and boost productivity.
The ministerial gathered high-ranking delegates from 20 countries to share insights and strategies aimed at building more resilient agricultural systems in the face of climate change.
