The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development has announced that an assessment of the hydrodynamic impact of marine infrastructure and construction works for the Anaklia Deep Sea Port is underway.
Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Guram Guramishvili, along with Zurab Sichinava, the Director of Anaklia Sea Port LLC, attended the laboratory testing of the breakwater model in Copenhagen, Denmark.
“As the public is aware, the design and construction phase of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port is ongoing. The general design stage includes assessing the hydrodynamic impact on marine infrastructure by simulating various external factors on the breakwater model,” stated Guramishvili.
The testing, part of an agreement between Anaklia Seaport LLC, JV Jan De Nul – Prime Concrete, and subcontractor Royal Haskoning DHV, involved partners and contractors from Jan De Nul. Guramishvili reviewed the 3D virtual simulation process and key design parameters.
The tests, led by the internationally renowned company DHI, will continue for several days. Guramishvili emphasized the importance of conducting this process with a company that has 60 years of experience in hydro-technical research.
“This advanced hydro-technical methodology will ensure sustainable maritime infrastructure at the Anaklia Deep Sea Port, enabling the safe entry, exit, and operation of ships year-round,” he stated.
In addition to DHI’s 3D wave testing, discussions were held regarding the breakwater configuration and the next research phase. The visit also included technical and thematic work meetings with the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development.
