
“The Tbilisi Deputy Mayor Andria Basilaia hosted the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany Ernst Peter Fischer and the delegation of the KfW Development Bank, led by Christiane Laibach, a member of the bank's management board. Within the framework of the visit to Tbilisi, the guests got acquainted with the Center for Automated Management of Traffic Flows and the projects implemented in the direction of road infrastructure development,” - the Tbilisi City Hall reported.
"The Deputy Mayor thanked the German side for supporting Tbilisi's sustainable transport policy. In particular, for assistance in the process of introducing smart transport systems, an important direction of the current reform. 47 million euros allocated within the framework of the project "Sustainable Urban Mobility" started in cooperation with the German Reconstruction Bank (KFW) will be used for the development of the relevant infrastructure and software system in order to organize traffic and improve air quality. This system will be introduced in several stages during the next 5 years", Andria Basilaia told the German journalists accompanying the delegation.
According to him, the visit of the German side is very important for the Tbilisi Municipality, since the Federal Republic of Germany actively promotes the sustainable urban development of Tbilisi, while the KFW has long-term cooperation with the Tbilisi City Hall.
The project includes refinement and development of several main directions. Among them are: traffic light control system; introduction of bus priority; integrated management of traffic flows; parking management; introducing the priority of movement during emergency situations.
