Georgia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) announced that seven political unions had earned the right to receive state funding starting from November 26, in accordance with the results of the October parliamentary elections and the country’s electoral legislation.
The CEC identified the political unions entitled to funding as follows: the ruling Georgian Dream party, United National Movement, Coalition for Change Gvaramia Melia Girchi Droa, Gakharia for Georgia, Lelo for Georgia, Alliance of Patriots of Georgia, and New Political Centre Girchi.
However, the Coalition for Change Gvaramia Melia Girchi Droa declined the state funding. The CEC noted that the deadline for political unions to reject funding was 6 pm on Thursday.
In the general elections held on October 26, the Georgian Dream party secured the majority of seats, while four opposition parties and alliances surpassed the five-percent electoral threshold.
