Specialists of the National Food Agency of Georgia provided business operators with detailed information on the importance of the system and the current practice of its implementation. The meeting was held in question-answer mode. It was noted that the Agency would actively cooperate with the business sector for the effective implementation of the new regulation in production and the smooth implementation of business operations.
All food business operators are required to implement a Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) system by June 1, 2023. The HACCP system allows the business operator to predict and prevent potential food safety hazards, which will contribute to providing consumers with safe food, as well as avoiding economic damage as a result of risk prevention and increasing competitiveness.
In accordance with the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area Agreement (DCFTA) with the European Union, the implementation of the HACCP system has been implementing step by step with business operators of various profiles since 2015.
