The National Environmental Agency of Georgia (NEA) has issued a weather forecast for the upcoming period.
According to the agency, Western Georgia is expected to experience rainfall, with some areas facing heavy precipitation from the evening of February 3 through the morning of February 4. Sea conditions may also see storm surges of 3-4 points. Strong westerly winds will be blowing across most parts of the country.
In the mountainous regions, snowfall is anticipated, with some areas experiencing heavy falls. Conditions may include fog, blizzards, and an increased risk of avalanches. Due to heavy snowfall, blizzards, reduced visibility, and avalanche danger, traffic restrictions may be imposed on certain road sections.
The expected rainfall could lead to a significant rise in river levels in Western Georgia, as well as trigger and activate landslides and mudslides in hilly and mountainous zones, with a medium danger level.
