According to figures released by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GeoStat), Georgia’s Producer Price Index (PPI) for industrial products rose by 0.9% month-on-month in August 2026, marking a 5.8% increase compared with the same period last year.
On a month-on-month basis, price increases in the mining and quarrying sector, which rose by 4.6% compared with July and added 0.34 percentage points to the monthly index, primarily drove the growth. Electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply experienced a more pronounced surge of 6.8%, contributing 0.67 percentage points to the overall monthly figure. Conversely, manufacturing output prices saw a slight decline of 0.2%, deducting 0.15 percentage points from the monthly total.
Over the 12 months leading to August 2026, the 5.8% annual increase was shaped across four key industrial sectors. Manufacturing prices grew by 5.1%, making the largest single impact on the index by contributing 4.02 percentage points to annual inflation, underpinned by a 5.7% rise in food products and a 10.1% increase in basic metals.
The mining and quarrying sector posted the steepest individual growth, surging by 20.1% year-on-year and contributing 1.34 percentage points to the overall index, driven largely by a 22.9% hike in metal ore prices. Additionally, prices for electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply rose by 2.6%, adding 0.28 percentage points, while water supply, sewerage, and waste management services increased by 6.3%, contributing a further 0.20 percentage points to the annual figure.
