Georgian Health Minister Mikheil Sarjveladze announced that 87,000 patients have successfully recovered from Hepatitis C through the national treatment program, calling it a major public health achievement.
“This means that their lives were saved. The disease stopped spreading, and this is a success,” Sarjveladze stated, expressing gratitude to participating clinics, with special recognition given to the Tengiz Tsertsvadze Infectious Diseases, AIDS and Clinical Immunology Research Center.
Sarjveladze noted that the program’s success provides a strong foundation for managing Hepatitis B. While Hepatitis B is not completely curable, he explained that it can be brought into remission, significantly reducing risks to patient health.
He urged individuals diagnosed with Hepatitis B to seek care through the state-financed treatment program, which ensures access to safe and effective therapy. The Minister also emphasized that the program is continuously updated to maintain high standards and improve access to quality medications.
