The German Condor Airlines launched its first flight from Frankfurt am Main to Tbilisi on May 2. The airline will operate regular flights twice a week.
"We are pleased to have introduced another new, major European air carrier to the Georgian aviation market, which will bring tourists to Georgia from Germany and other European countries. Germany is a very important tourist market for us, that is why we did our best to have direct traffic from Frankfurt to Tbilisi. It is gratifying that the dynamics of Georgia's tourism recovery is quite positive, which is the result of the right strategy. According to the statistics, the Georgian tourism market is becoming more and more attractive to the European visitors - as of January-March 2022, the country received 616% more visitors from the EU countries compared to 2021. Additionally, the tourism recovery rate compared to 2019 is already 67%, which indicates a significant growth trend. I think this dynamic will rise in parallel with the increase in the number of regular flights to other European cities. This is our top priority. We are negotiating with other international airlines to operate flights to Tbilisi and other international airports in Georgia," - Mariam Kvrivishvili, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, said.
In connection with the first inaugural flight, a reception ceremony was held at the Tbilisi International Airport. The event was attended by representatives of the Georgian Airports Union, TAV Georgia and the Condor Airlines.
