
“In 2022, the National Tourism Administration of Georgia reached agreements with various states and international organizations for the purpose of cooperation in the field of tourism. Memoranda were signed with the relevant tourism organizations of the Swiss Confederation, Croatia and Bhutan, as well as were initiated with Bulgaria, Uruguay, Bolivia, Colombia, the Dominican Republic and Oman,” - the National Tourism Administration of Georgia reports.
Reportedly, this year the National Tourism Administration of Georgia took part in the Global Youth Tourism Summit in Italy, where Giorgi Kochkiani, a 17-year-old guide living in Ushguli, Svaneti region, was represented on behalf of Georgia.
In the post-pandemic period, the priority for the National Tourism Administration of Georgia is to quickly restore tourism and promote the private sector. For this purpose, organized by the National Tourism Administration, supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the United Nations World Tourism Organization, the UNWTO Academy held thematic seminars for representatives of the tourism sector.
This year, the National Tourism Administration of Georgia launched 2 new projects in cooperation with donor organizations: within the framework of the USAID-funded Georgia Human and Institutional Capacity Development (HICD) activity, an organizational assessment program was initiated for the National Tourism Administration, which involves the promotion of the achievement of the obligations and strategic goals assumed by the organization.
Within the existing cooperation between the National Tourism Administration of Georgia and the United Nations Development Fund (UNDP), a new project of the Governance Reform Fund (GRF) has been planned, as part of which the institutional capacity of information centers will be strengthened and the improvement of service quality will be promoted.
