According to Mr. Giorgi Salakaia, economic and cultural cooperation between Georgia and the Republic of San Marino has been going on for many years and has even greater potential for co-development. 

The special event of the Foundation Day of San Marino was celebrated in Georgia last year as well, which was organized by Mr. Giorgi Salakaia, Honorary Consul of the Republic of San Marino in Georgia. 

The event was attended by the Head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Accredited Ambassadors of foreign countries in Georgia, Honorary Consuls and other officials.

The Honorary Consul of the Republic of San Marino, Mr. Giorgi Salakaia, addressed the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Georgia. The solemn evening was opened with the anthem of the Republic of San Marino.

Mr. Giorgi Salakaia, the founder of the Badagoni wine company, was appointed as Honorary Consul of the Republic of San Marino in Georgia in 2019. Mr. Giorgi Salakaia was nominated to the mentioned position by the government of the Republic of San Marino.

Until October 1, 2012, Mr. Bidzina Ivanishvili served as Honorary Consul of San Marino, who was replaced in 2014 by the world-renowned Italian winemaker, Dr. Donato Lanati.

To be informed, in 2015, the Minister of Foreign and Political Affairs of San Marino Mr. Pasquale Valentini visited Georgia. As part of the visit, the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries was signed.

3 agreements are signed between Georgia and the Republic of San Marino. Cooperation between the two countries is carried out dynamically within the framework of international organizations.  

The Republic of San Marino is located on the Apennine Peninsula, in Southern Europe, while the area, including the identically named capital city, consists of nine ancient city communes.
