During the talks, the parties will discuss the current development cooperation between Georgia and the Federal Republic of Germany and the future partnership plans in the areas such as vocational education, private sector support, energy and energy efficiency, as well as sustainable urban development.
Representatives of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Georgia, the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the German Credit Bank for Reconstruction (KfW) and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) are participating in the government negotiations on behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany.
From the Georgian side, the meeting was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, the Ministry of Justice, Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure, the Parliament of Georgia, the State Audit Office, the Administration of the Government of Georgia, as well as the Ministry of Finance and Economy of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, the Batumi and the Tbilisi City Halls.
A number of agreements and contracts are planned to be signed during the negotiations.
Following the previous government talks, which took place in 2019, the allocated amount was € 188.5 million, out of which € 53 million is a grant. Additionally, a grant of 75.94 million euros, out of which Georgia's share is the largest, has been allocated to the regional cooperation.
It should be noted that government talks on the development cooperation between Georgia and the Federal Republic of Germany are held every two years.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the move is being taken in accordance with the recommendations established in the country.
