To ensure the smooth organisation of the 2025 vintage, the Vintage Coordination Headquarters will launch a new 24/7 hotline — 0322 193 283 — in addition to the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture’s existing hotline 1501.
“The government continues to support winegrowers and farmers to ensure the smooth completion of the grape harvest,” said Levan Mekhuzla, Chairman of the National Wine Agency.
“The new hotline will be operational throughout the harvest period to promptly address the needs of winegrowers and producers.”
The Coordination Headquarters, which will operate continuously during the harvest season, is based in Gurjaani village, Gurjaani Municipality, a key wine-producing region in eastern Georgia.
Key Policy Shift: End of Subsidies to Private Wineries
In a significant change to previous years, the Government of Georgia has decided that private wine companies will no longer receive state subsidies during the 2025 harvest. Instead, Harvest Management Company LLC, a state-owned enterprise, will be responsible for purchasing surplus grapes.
The official purchase prices for 2025 have been set as follows:
Saperavi grapes (Kakheti) – GEL 1.50 per kg
Other permitted wine varieties – GEL 1.20 per kg
Substandard grapes (≤18% sugar) – GEL 1.00 per kg
Damaged or diseased grapes – GEL 1.00 per kg
These changes are aimed at improving harvest logistics, ensuring fair compensation for growers, and enhancing oversight in grape procurement and wine production.
