Today, Orthodox Christians mark the Feast of the Transfiguration, one of the 12 Great Feasts of the Orthodox Church.
According to the Gospel account, Jesus Christ took three of His apostles — Peter, James, and John — to Mount Tabor, where He was transfigured before them, revealing His divine glory. His face shone like the sun, and His garments became dazzling white, affirming His divine nature to the disciples.
The feast is celebrated with special liturgies held in churches across the Orthodox world. A traditional element of the celebration is the blessing of fruits, especially grapes, symbolizing the transformation and renewal of all creation through Christ.
The Feast of the Transfiguration emphasizes themes of divine revelation, spiritual enlightenment, and the promise of eternal life.
