Medea Janiashvili, Acting Head of the National Tourism Administration, held a working meeting with the Heads of the UNWTO Regional Office for Europe and the Department of Innovation and Education in Madrid, Spain, in connection with training courses. The meeting was attended by Nato Meburishvili, Head of the Quality Development Department of the National Tourism Administration.
According to the negotiations between the National Tourism Administration and the representatives of the UNWTO, the tourism sector officials will be trained, after which all participants will be awarded a joint certificate from the Tourism Administration and the United Nations World Tourism Organization.
The aim of the trainings is to raise the qualification of the representatives of the private sector involved in the tourism industry and to improve the quality of services.
The UNWTO Tourism Online Academy brings together more than 900 highly qualified university teachers and trainers from around the world to provide training courses tailored to the needs of industry workers, such as: fundamentals of tourism and the latest trends, hospitality industry, tourism product design and offering, marketing and sales and more.
"We had a very important and busy working meeting with the UN World Tourism Organization's Department of Innovation and Development, where we discussed specific cooperation plans. In 2022, we will conduct a joint training program for people working in the tourism sector in Georgia, adapted to the post-COVID reality, which will significantly help our sector to be able to sustainably recover in the short term” - Medea Janiashvili stated.
