The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Mikheil Chkhenkeli, opened the event dedicated to the 30-year cooperation between Georgia and Emory University (USA), which the US Ambassador, Kelly Degnan and the Vice Provost for Global Strategy and Initiatives at Emory University, Philip Wainwright participated.
Mikheil Chkhenkeli addressed the audience with a welcome speech and while talking about the development of education and healthcare, he emphasized the importance of long-term cooperation with Emory University.
"I am pleased to have the opportunity to celebrate this remarkable date and summarize 30 years of fruitful cooperation, including numerous projects and important achievements, with Emory University.
I would like to sincerely thank Georgia's main strategic partner, the United States government, which has made a great contribution to the development of the education system of our country. Another visible example of this is the cooperation between Georgia and Emory University, within the framework of which various important directions were introduced and developed in the fields of education and health care in Georgia," the Minister stressed.
At the end of the conversation, the Minister once again focused on the support of the United States of America in the field of education and noted that since the establishment of Emory University, more than 300 citizens of Georgia had been given the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and receive high-quality education in various fields.
Since 2017, the US Agency for International Development (USAID) alone has allocated more than 7 million US dollars to support projects implemented by Emory University in Georgia.
