According to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, the forum was organized by the Austrian Embassy in Georgia, the Austrian Foreign Trade Representation and the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Speaking at the forum, Natia Turnava shared Georgia's experience with the topic "What does sustainability mean in practice" and talked about the post-Covid-19 recovery trends in Georgia, as well as the issues of sustainable and green economic development.
As Natia Turnava noted in her speech, several legislative acts have been adopted in recent years that promote the principles of green and sustainable development, including the Law on Energy Efficiency, the Law on Energy Efficiency of Buildings, the Law on Energy Labeling, the Law on Renewable Energy, the National Energy Efficiency Action Plan and others.
"Today's forum is one of the good examples when business and government are working on new projects that serve a more sustainable environment, the development of environmental principles, the introduction of more eco-friendly technologies in Georgia and at the same time it is very attractive for making business," Natia Turnava said.
The Minister of Economy also spoke about the steps that are being taken in terms of green energy development. Among them, green hydrogen projects were highlighted, in which Georgia will be the first in the region.
"We are planning to introduce green technologies in the field of transport, as it is very important for the development of the tourism market to be more involved in eco-friendly transport," - said Natia Turnava.
The forum was also attended by Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Nino Tandilashvili, Austrian Ambassador to Georgia, Thomas Muehlmann, Austrian Consul for Trade in Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkey, Georg Karabajek, Vice President of the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Nino Suknidze and representatives of the Austrian and Georgian business sectors.
