
First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia Nino Tandilashvili attended the 31st meeting of the Steering Committee of the European Union Program - European Neighbourhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD).
The Deputy Minister thanked the European Union for its support and partnership.
"We appreciate the European perspective of Georgia recognized by the European Union and we hope that our country will be granted the candidate status very soon. The European Neighbourhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development plays an important role in the field of agriculture and rural development of Georgia. The forward steps we have taken in the direction of both agriculture and environmental protection are visible and noteworthy. The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture continues to implement the respective reforms. The support of international partners is especially important for us. I hope that the progress achieved by Georgia will be properly evaluated", Tandilashvili said.
According to the Acting Head of Cooperation of the European Union Delegation in Georgia, Katalin German, progress in the field of agriculture is noticeable in many directions.
The discussion at the meeting also touched on the issue of ENPARD IV phase budget support in 2021-2023; Presentations of the report on the progress of the institutional reform of the Rural Development Agency (2021-2023) and updated action plans, as well as the laboratory strategy project were held.
At the meeting of the ENPARD management committee, the participants discussed: the activities planned for the empowerment of women; the events planned in cooperation with the Public City Hall to improve services (including for vulnerable groups) in villages; the issues of food control system evaluation.
