The financial assistance package includes 12.75 million euros and is designed for 36 months. The purpose of the package is to strengthen and develop the country's defense capabilities that will facilitate Georgia's active cooperation with the European Union within the framework of the Common Security and Defense Policy (CSDP).
"The assistance provided to Georgia is aimed at strengthening the capacity of the country's defense forces, including improving the ability to provide assistance to civilians in times of crisis and emergency situations. The security dimension is one of the critical areas of the bilateral agenda. This important decision is a confirmation that Georgia-EU cooperation is dynamic," - the Defense Ministry reports.
The European peacekeeping instrument aims to strengthen the capabilities of military and defense beneficiary countries to promote the internal resilience and peace. For Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, the EU also aims to strengthen the capabilities and interoperability of local defense forces to facilitate military missions and operations within the framework of the Common Security and Defense Policy (CSDP) through the European peacekeeping instrument.
