Reportedly, the case concerns the phrase voiced in the TV series "Queen's Gambit" that Nona Gaprindashvili has never faced a male chess player.

According to media reports, Gaprindashvili is demanding millions of dollars in compensation for a lie that "diminished and undermined the achievements of a chess player in front of a multimillion audience." Gaprindashvili also demands cutting a specific section from the series.

The lawsuit alleges that Netflix deliberately lied about Gaprindashvili's accomplishments in a cheap and cynical way to emphasize that its fictional hero managed to do what other women, including Gaprindashvili, could not.

Netflix says that despite the respect for Nona Gaprindashvili, her accusations are baseless.
