As Director of the Georgian Airports Union Tamar Archuadze explains, prior to the reformation, the structure of the union was analyzed by the World Bank and, based on the conclusions, the agency had shown quite good indicators.
"Airports are a strategic object of the country. A large aviation enterprise such as the Georgian Airports Union must be properly managed and our structure must be in line with the international corporate governance standards. We are very pleased to have been selected as the first company from the Ltd ones included in the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development and have been evaluated by the World Bank, respectively, comparing us to the requirements of corporate governance. Therefore, the positive thing that has been mentioned is that we already have a supervisory board and we are staffed with professionals, including the mechanisms necessary for quality management of aviation security, aviation security control and public procurement control. Aviation is a very growing field. Although the pandemic has hit us hard, the recovery dynamics can be seen and with the updated forecasts by 2023, we will already be equal to the 2019 indicators. So, this reform is quite timely,” - Tamar Archuadze stated.
The government of Georgia is being consulted by the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the OECD in connection with the state-owned enterprise reform.
