The Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia met with the Acting Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Georgia, Amer Omar. Mariam Kvrivishvili and Amer Omar discussed the current issues ahead of the upcoming summer tourist season. The Acting Head of the National Tourism Administration Medea Janiashvili also attended the meeting.
As Mariam Kvrivishvili emphasized at the meeting, Georgia is one of the safest and most hospitable countries for tourists, which leads to an increase in the number of visitors from year to year. At the same time, according to both sides, there is an expectation that this year, during the summer tourist season, many high spending citizens of Saudi Arabia will visit Georgia.
"We have successfully completed negotiations with the airlines operating or will start operating in Georgia and in total we expect 54 flights to be performed a week from Saudi Arabia to Tbilisi and Batumi during the summer season,” - said Mariam Kvrivishvili.
In addition to a safe environment for tourists, the Deputy Economy Minister stressed that “our country is distinguished by four seasons, which makes it especially attractive for family vacations and that is why the dynamics of tourism in Georgia is growing from year to year.” According to her, Saudi Arabia is a strategically important target country for Georgia, from which incoming visitors are distinguished by high spending.
