The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia (MFA) stated that it "remains firmly committed to protecting Georgia's national interests and advancing the objectives outlined in the Georgian Constitution."
The Ministry "strongly condemns any pressure on Georgia's diplomatic service and calls it an act of sabotage."
"Attempts by foreign nations to interfere with the functioning of a sovereign state's institutions are unacceptable."
The Georgian government has consistently implemented the Association Agreement with the European Union, including the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement, as part of the EU integration process, even prior to being granted candidate status.
Thus, the Georgian government will steadfastly continue its irreversible journey towards European integration, based on the Association Agreement, which will better prepare the country for swift negotiations on EU membership in the future.
Since the European Union has not yet decided to begin accession negotiations with Georgia, claims that the Georgian government is halting negotiations with the EU are false.
The Georgian government's decision not to prioritize opening EU membership negotiations until 2028 and to decline EU budget grants does not signal a halt in the EU integration process but is instead aimed at preventing the spread of harmful speculations on the matter," the MFA statement concludes.
