Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has stated that the government must first understand the position of the radical opposition and international stakeholders regarding last year’s OSCE/ODIHR election assessment before engaging in further discussions.
“First of all, we need the position of the radical opposition and international stakeholders on how they stand regarding OSCE/ODIHR’s conclusions from last year, and then we can discuss everything else,” Kobakhidze told reporters.
Referring to the OSCE/ODIHR's report on the previous elections, the Prime Minister noted that the organization faced criticism from both Georgian opposition groups and certain international actors.
“OSCE/ODIHR became the target of attacks not only from our Georgian radical opposition, but also from international stakeholders,” he said.
Kobakhidze emphasized that before any decision is made about inviting OSCE/ODIHR to observe future elections or engage further, there must be clarity on whether its previous conclusions are accepted.
“Let us first find out whether these people recognise OSCE/ODIHR’s conclusions from last year, and after that we can perhaps discuss inviting OSCE/ODIHR.”
