Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, in a social media post, said it is no longer useful for the United National Movement (UNM) to oppose the Lelo party, suggesting the party instead focus on more pressing political goals.
“In my opinion, further opposition to Lelo makes no sense; we should limit ourselves to expressing regret,” wrote the jailed ex-president.
Saakashvili urged UNM to shift its efforts toward boycotting the ruling Georgian Dream party’s so-called ‘special operation’ and to push for free and fair elections, in line with recent support from the European Parliament.
“We should concentrate on actively boycotting the Russian-backed Georgian Dream’s ‘scam’ special operation and working tirelessly toward genuine elections,” he stated.
