“Kremlin doesn’t want Georgia and Moldova to determine their own future and does everything possible to disrupt democratic processes,” Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda wrote on his Twitter page.
“Russia is intensifying its hybrid operations in EU neighborhood. Recent parliamentary elections in Georgia and EU referendum in Moldova are evidence of this interference. Kremlin doesn’t want Georgia and Moldova to determine their own future and does everything possible to disrupt democratic processes.
In Moldova, despite Kremlin’s tremendous efforts, the European path prevailed. In Georgia, mass protests followed the elections. People want to live in democracy and prosperity – not censorship and autocracy. Citizens have made their European choice and are not ready to give it up.
For the EU, it is crucial not to abandon the people of Georgia and Moldova. We cannot let their European dream drift away. We must support civil society and ensure that the people’s voices are decisive in determining the future of their countriesm,” Gitanas Nauseda said.
