Georgian Minister of Economy Mariam Kvrivishvili met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, marking a continued strengthening of ties between the two countries, according to Azerbaijani media.
President Aliyev congratulated Kvrivishvili on her recent appointment and described her visit as a reflection of the close partnership between Georgia and Azerbaijan. Kvrivishvili, in turn, thanked him for the warm welcome and conveyed greetings from Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
Aliyev recalled Kobakhidze’s first official visit abroad — to Azerbaijan in January 2025 — as a strong symbol of the deep friendship between the two nations. Kvrivishvili praised President Aliyev as a global leader who is regarded as a true friend in Georgia.
The meeting focused on expanding strategic cooperation, particularly in energy, transportation, trade, and investment. Both sides stressed the importance of ongoing and future joint projects that not only benefit Georgia and Azerbaijan but also contribute to regional connectivity and stability.
Reaffirming Azerbaijan’s role as Georgia’s top trading partner, the parties discussed ways to further boost trade turnover and economic collaboration across key sectors.
