Nino Tandilashvili, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia met with Sebastian Barkowski, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Minister of Climate and Environment of Poland for International Climate and Energy Cooperation.
The meeting was held within the framework of the 26th Conference of the Parties (COP) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (CoP26). Nino Tandilashvili briefed Sebastian Barkowski on the ongoing projects in Georgia to reduce emissions and paid special attention to the international agreements signed under the Paris Agreement.
At the meeting, the Polish side spoke about a new initiative related to the Polish Climate Support Project, which has a budget of 11.25 million euros and provides support for areas such as climate policy development, air quality improvement, energy efficient buildings, transformation of coal-producing regions, zero and low carbon emission transport. As part of the initiative, the Polish side is about to consider the investment, consulting and mixed projects.
Within the framework of the initiative, the Georgian side received specific proposals on financial support in case of cooperation with the Polish side and submission of climate-friendly projects.
Nino Tandilashvili invited the representatives of the Polish side to Georgia to share experiences and deepen cooperation between the two countries.
